Voluntary Opportunities

If you have a keen interest in museums and you have some spare time, you might want to consider volunteering at The Bowes Museum. Volunteers have been working with The Bowes Museum for many years and their skills, experiences and enthusiasm have become a valuable part of the workforce.

In particular, currently we seek volunteers to assist in the following departments:

How to apply

We may not be able to offer all applicants a place immediately; volunteer opportunities are dependent on staff time and availability to supervise and support individuals.

Little Treasures – Volunteer Required

We require a volunteer to support the delivery of Little Treasures sessions between 9.45am – 11.45am on Wednesdays (term time only). This would be to help with snack preparation, crafts and tidying up of the learning vaults and also to engage with children under 5 and their parents/carers

Please see below information on Little Treasures:

Weekly sessions focus around a fun theme relating to specially chosen objects in the Museum. There’s also an opportunity to explore the Museum, make a ‘crafty’ creation, and for parents and children to enjoy a song time.

The sessions are on a Wednesday between 10.00 – 11.30 term time only. Each session costs £2 per child (paid per half term), with refreshments and materials provided.

To join the group you must contact Amy on 01833 690606 ext 241 or email Amy on amy.bainbridge@thebowesmuseum.org.uk or Gemma on gemma.scott@thebowesmuseum.org.uk
