If you have a keen interest in museums and you have some spare time, you might want to consider volunteering at The Bowes Museum. Volunteers have been working with The Bowes Museum for many years and their skills, experiences and enthusiasm have become a valuable part of the workforce.
In particular, currently we seek volunteers to assist in the following departments:
Media / Press Relations Department:
We are looking for a dedicated and articulate volunteer to support the wide-ranging scope of the team. Duties will include monitoring and updating various methods used to advertise our exciting exhibitions and events programme and our many Press Releases, cataloguing previous Press Releases, and updating databases. Good computer skills are highly desirable. If you are interested in assisting us on a Tuesday, Thursday or Friday we look forward to receiving your application.
Education Department: Wanted - A Big Treausre for Little Treasures!
The Museum toddler group, Little Treasures, is short of a volunteer to help alongside a member of the Education team with their afternoon session on a Wednesday. If you could spare a couple of hours on a Wednesday afternoon and enjoy the company of babies and toddlesr aged from 0 - 3 years old, then this could be the volunteering role for you. It invovles helping the parents and toddlers where needed with an extra pair of hands for the craft activities, preparing the fruit snacks for the children and making hot drinks for the parents, clearing up and tidying away snacks and toys and (the fun bit!) chatting and playing with the adults and children. The session runs from 1.00pm until 2.30pm every Wednesday, term time only. If you are interested, please contact Alison Smith on 01833 690 606 ext 214, or Amy Bainbridge on 01833 690606 ext 242 for a chat.
We look forward to hearing from you!
