Being a Friends Volunteer offers the opportunity to enjoy a closer involvement in various aspects of the Museum’s life. You can help in a multiplicity of ways at special events, at the mailing of the Friends’ quarterly Newsletter, Bowes Arts, and at occasional mailing shots for the Museum.
Volunteers are also sought to help in the new Archives Reading Room, which may involve transcribing John and Joséphine Bowes’ bills, receipts and correspondence, amongst other fascinating documents. Volunteers are also creating an on-line database to catalogue the Museum’s entire collections, enabling easier access both for researchers and for the public.
A number of Friends also volunteer as Museum Guides, welcoming visitors and taking them on tours of the collections.
