Temporary Gallery Closures

Please note the following temporary gallery closures (these will not affect access to The Silver Swan at 2.00):
24 May Nineteenth Century Picture Gallery closed 1.15 - 2.45, Music Room closed 1.30 - 3.00
26 May Nineteenth Century Picture Gallery closed 1.00 - 2.30, Prehistoric People exhibition closed 12.15- 2.00, Music Room closed all day.

Antiques and Fine Art Fair 
Please note that on Thursday 4 & Friday 5 June the 2nd floor Picture Galleries will be closed to allow for the set up of the Antiques and Fine Art Fair. The central gallery will open briefly on each day for the viewing of The Silver Swan, which will play at 2.00 on the Thursday and the later time of 3.00 on the Friday. During the event itself, which takes place on 6 & 7 June, the Picture Galleries will be open, however due to the positioning of stalls, the viewing of the paintings will be significantly restricted. From 4-7 June, Visitor Admission will be reduced to £5.00 per person to reflect these restrictions.

Ceramics Galleries
The Bowes Museum is currently refurbishing the Ceramics Galleries. The aim of this programme of work will be to improve accessibility to the Museum’s large and important collection of ceramics and increase visitors’ enjoyment of it. 

The current galleries will be closed from 1 December until further notice, to allow time to temporarily pack the collections away and undertake refurbishment work in the galleries.

The Bowes Museum is a registered charity. Admissions are donation inclusive and can be Gift Aided. For every £1.00 paid the Museum can reclaim 28p. If you are not a UK taxpayer or do not wish to make a charitable donation the admission prices are as follows: Adults £9.25, Concessions £8.50, 6 Month Admission Pass £14.00.
