Temple Lamp
Brass temple lamp cast with peacocks, made for the 1867 Paris Exhibition. The lamp has a large, bell-shaped base, supporting a central turned and ringed column, with baluster-turning at the top. This supports a circular, flat dish with ten spouts protruding from the side, which is surmounted by a brass peacock, with a spout emerging from its breast. This hinges sideways to allow the interior to be filled with oil. Below are three tiers of lamp arms, the arms flat s-scrolls each supporting a smaller hinged peacock reservoir with a long three-loped wick trough underneath. Size: Height: 155 cm
