Turner: Tours of Durham and Richmondshire

This major exhibition, curated by The Bowes Museum, explored JMW Turner’s stunning watercolours of the North of England. Paintings of Durham and Richmondshire were accompanied by other fascinating works including depictions of Farnley Hall in Yorkshire and Brinkburn Priory in Northumberland. A highlight was Turner’s watercolour of Barnard Castle, which returned to the UK from the Unites states especially for this exhibition.
