The Racing Club - Corporate Partners of The Bowes Museum

John Bowes' success as a racehorse owner and breeder is one of the reasons why the Museum is here today.  John's business interests and his flair with horses created his wealth making it possible to invest in his and Josephine's vision of a world class museum in Barnard Castle.    John Bowes is universally recognised as a successful stud owner and breeder, he was the first owner ever to win the Triple Crown in 1853; three races consisting of the 2000 Guineas, The Derby and the St Leger Stakes.  Only 14 owners have achieved this since.

The Racing Club has four levels, with annual benefits appropriate to each.  In addition partners are invited to 'Plate Day' an annual Racing Club celebratory event held at the Museum.  The Club officially launched in spring 2009.  Northumbrian Water has signed up as its first member and has been followed by BHP Law, and GlaxoSmithKline.
