The Bowes Museum contains the greatest collections of European Fine and Decorative Arts in the North of England. It is a great day out for all of the family.

Take a look at the new Fashion & Textile Gallery, English Decorative Arts Gallery, and the sparkling Silver and Metals Gallery. And keep an eye out for the opening of the refurbished picture galleries - Spring/Summer 2011.
Galleries
With 20 impressive galleries over 3 floors, the Museum has an abundance of wonderful works of art spanning the 14th to 20th centuries - Don't forget, the famous Silver Swan plays at 2.00 p.m. everyday.

A frequently changing programme of exhibitions bringing nationally and internationally renowned works of art to the North East.

Our Silver Swan automaton plays every day at 2.00.
Cafe Bowes
Enjoy fabulous views over Teesdale while indulging yourself with a homemade lunch or snack alongside our speciality teas, coffees and wines.

Park and Gardens
Experience the wonderfully peaceful and tranquil surroundings by walking, enjoying a picnic or simply taking a seat. Activity bags for energetic kids can be borrowed from the museum.

The museum has lots of activities for children to enjoy whilst visiting the museum, such as children's audio guide, trails, activity sacks and dressing up areas.
