AUTUMN HALF TERM

26 October – 3 November 2024

Celebrate the changing seasons as the Museum gears up for a half term full of family activities and creative hands-on workshops inspired by the collection, parkland and other seasonal events.

Join a daily Spotlight Tour at 11:00, make your own artwork and objects in a self-guided activity every day in the Create Space, or if you’d prefer to head outside, be sure to take an Explorer Bag with you to help identify the birds, plants and insects and see how the landscape changes in autumn.

The Museum’s youngest visitors can join a Plant Hunt on Monday 28 October where they can connect to nature by listening to stories, singing songs and exploring the galleries as they search to find objects inspired by plants, flowers, and animals. Families can help to build habitats for hibernating hedgehogs in the parkland on Tuesday, 29 and Thursday, 31 October, unleash their creativity in the Artist Maker sessions on Wednesday, 30 October and Saturdays and enjoy the Family Story Tours inspired by the new Posions display on Friday, 1 November.

Don’t miss a chance to see the exclusive exhibition, Kith and Kinship: Norman Cornish and L. S. Lowry and special display in the Fashion & Textiles Gallery, Framing Fashion: Art and Inspiration from a Private Collection of Vivienne Westwood

Treat yourself to a delight from the new Autumn menu, filled with fresh autumnal produce from local suppliers in Café Bowes’, the award-winning ‘Café of the Year’.

Enjoy new experiences with friends or family at The Bowes Museum this autumn.
