Not just Nude

Challenge assumptions, look beyond tradition and explore fresh perspectives on the nude form in this special co-produced display in the Blue Picture Gallery. Featuring works by David Hockney, Giovanni Battista Cipriani and John Doubleday, discover the evolving depiction of the human body in art over centuries, question who’s missing, and consider how these images have shaped our perceptions of beauty, gender and identity, from idealised ancient sculptures to move challenging modern pieces.

This pop-up intervention was co-produced by Be You at The Bowes LGBTQIA+ working group.
