Passion for Fashion

This special capsule collection of carefully curated high end everyday designer wear from the 1980s, 90s and early 2000s, features a beautiful pair of Christian Louboutin shoes – with their signature red soles, black strappy high heel Jimmy Choo sandals and Versace kitten heel satin mules thanks to the retired North East businesswoman Pamela Brewis, who has donated a selection of her wardrobe, including clothing she made, to the Museum.

Pamela and her husband Thomas bought many of the clothes from boutiques and department stores in the region, including a pink Moschino skirt suit and Rifat Ozbek ‘City Camouflage’ jacket.

20th Century Passion for Fashion  tells the story of the objects, how and where Pamela acquired them, the nature of how she wore them and the places she went in them.

It’s hoped the displays will evoke happy memories and spark a conversation as visitors view the selection of fashion and textiles that reflect a moment in time.

This display is on show until Monday, 10 July 2023.
