This year, The Bowes Museum is undertaking a transformative project and we’d love you to be involved. The Curiosity Project will refit four gallery spaces and create three new collection stores. Our new spaces will open in March 2024.

We don’t yet know what these spaces will look like but we do know that the changes we make here will shape the Museum’s forward direction. We want to do this together.
We’re talking to lots of people in our community to explore answers to the question:
How might we co-produce gallery spaces that improve access to our collections and encourage and promote learning, curiosity, creativity and conversation?

Together, we want to understand collection objects through your eyes, to find new stories and shape different ideas so that our future displays and exhibitions, and the things we collect, are relevant to you, this place and the world we live in.

Right now, we’re particularly looking to work with children under 13 and their families/adults. We’d love to invite you to a workshop on:

Thursday 27 July 10:00 – 13:00 drop in session for under 5s and their adults

Thursday 27 July 14:00 – 16:00 for workshop session for 6-13 yr olds and their adults

Together we’ll play, talk, make and create. We’ll have some refreshments too. Your thoughts and ideas will help shape what the Museum looks like.
