Prefer to explore at your own pace? Hire a Loan Box packed with fascinating collection objects, replicas and teaching resources to help your pupils investigate the collection wherever you are. Themes include:

• Mining: Linked to the Bowes families mining interests, this box will provide schools with an opportunity to explore one of the key elements of industrial history and an important aspect of North East culture.
• Local History: Through our collection, explore various elements of County Durham’s incredible history as we travel through the history of our region.
• Art: We’ll bring the collection to you! With a range of pieces from our collection and associated objects, you can create your own classroom art gallery experience.
• Food: This box explores the tasty and not-so-tasty world of food. In this box, you’ll find examples of food in art, as well as objects related to the preparation and cooking of food from our collection.
