Join us from 28 March – 19 April for family-friendly activities, creative workshops and opportunities to explore the galleries together.
The whole family are invited to Step into Westwood: A Family Adventure Through Fashion Rebellion, a lively adventure through our latest exhibition filled with fascinating stories and surprising details.
Gather around the indoor campsite, in the comfort of the Conservation Gallery for Nature Spotters, or head to the Objects on the Move gallery as Bug Club returns, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the museum cares for its objects. Throughout the holidays, drop in to the Create Space to design personalised Birthday Cards for Joséphine Bowes to celebrate our wonderful founder’s 201st birthday.
Older children and young people can take on mind-bending challenges through Arty STEAM, exploring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) through the museum’s remarkable collection, including the Silver Swan. Make a creative statement in Art as Protest, a Vivienne Westwood-inspired workshop, exploring fashion as a tool for sparking conversation and inspiring change.
Experiment with style and technique in Sew-Cial at The Bowes, a creative sewing series inspired by Vivienne Westwood’s iconic approach to fashion. Then join the conversation at Bowes Book Club, exploring stories that celebrate art, culture and creativity.
The Spring holidays are also the perfect time to experience Vivienne Westwood: Rebel – Storyteller – Visionary, The Bowes Museum’s most ambitious Westwood exhibition yet, celebrating one of fashion’s most provocative and imaginative designers. Flying on the terrace is Meg Fletcher: Character Studies – 3 Acts, three flags designed by Meg Fletcher, blending high fashion, theatre and the museum’s own history.
The Bowes Museum is the perfect place for a fun-filled cultural day out with daily tours, interactive sessions and free entry for children, full-time students and carers.
