In this hands-on workshop led by Amy Jowett, you will explore the rich textures, motifs and decorative elements of historic garments within the museum’s collection. Starting with expressive mono printing onto acetate, you’ll experiment with mark-making and line work to create unique transfer prints. The session then moves on to gel plate printing, using stencils, scrap fabrics and repeating motifs inspired by textile patterns from the museum’s collection. Finally, the group will collaborate on a large-scale abstract print using a silk screen, layering colour and texture to produce a bold, collective artwork.
Activity taking place in the Create Space, recommended for ages 15+, 12 spaces available, booking essential.
Please contact Alia Cruz, Learning Manager at learn@thebowesmusuem.org.uk if you have access requirements, so the session can be adapted to suit your needs.
