In Conversation with Mary Cooper: The Fascinating World of Fans
Fans are much more than just fashionable accessories. They are works of art, learning tools, parlour games and forms of advertisements. Each fan carries its own story, reflecting the fashions, skills and social life of the time.
Join us for this in conversation with Mary Cooper to hear about the history of the fan in relation to ones within the museum’s own collection. Mary Cooper has collected fans for over 40 years, published a book for collectors and worked as a specialised dealer in costume, lace and fans.
Booking required, taking place in the Jubilee Room. Recommended for young people and adults, children under 14 must be accompanied.
