Find out what it takes to be a Young Curator at The Bowes Museum!

Step behind the scenes and discover how our curators bring art, history, fashion and stories to life. From researching rare objects to designing exhibitions, curatorial work is creative, hands-on and endlessly inspiring and now you can experience it for yourself.

Explore our upcoming new gallery exhibitions, national partnerships and innovative storytelling initiatives that will shape the future of the museum. You’ll get a glimpse into the curatorial process and see how ideas evolve into fully realised displays.

There are so many ways to get involved, whether you’re curious about a future in museums or simply passionate about art and heritage. Join our Young Curators Programme, designed especially for 16–21 year olds. This unique programme offers hands-on experience with real objects from the collection, opportunities to curate mini exhibitions, work alongside museum professionals and build the skills and confidence needed for a career in the cultural sector.

Whether you want to step into a curatorial career or just explore something new, The Bowes Museum is the perfect place to start your journey. Join us and help shape the stories we tell.

Taking place in The Hive, recommended for ages 16 –21.

Please contact Alia Cruz, Learning Manager at  learn@thebowesmusuem.org.uk if you have access requirements, so the session can be adapted to suit your needs.
