Be You at The Bowes is the first LGBTQIA+ working group of its kind at the museum. The group comes together to hold open discussions about identity, gender and representations of the body within the Picture Galleries, as well as uncovering items within the collection that capture something about LGBTQIA+ histories.
The working group is dedicated to co-producing content, teaming up with regional partners, and working as a community to learn from one another and grow together.
Be You at The Bowes meets every other Tuesday, and the working group is free to attend, museum admission is not required to participate.
Join a Be You at The Bowes working group session, booking required.
If you'd like to contribute to Be You at The Bowes, suggest an object from the collection for us to explore, or share your story as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, please contact us at learning@thebowesmuseum.org.uk. We'd love to hear from you!
